Preventative Maintenance: The Checks That Save You Money
15 Aug 2026 Walter
Most of the expensive repairs we see at the garage trace back to something small that was ignored for too long. Three checks we recommend every Subaru owner build into a monthly routine: engine oil level and condition, tyre pressure (including the spare), and brake pad thickness. Low oil accelerates wear on EJ and FA-series engines, incorrect tyre pressure affects both fuel economy and handling, and worn brake pads left too long can damage rotors, turning a cheap pad swap into a much pricier job. Five minutes a month with a torch and a tyre gauge can save you a lot more than five minutes' worth of workshop time later.
